The three-part series Waiting for… was launched during the spring quarantine caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
For the first two units (http://kolozsibea.hu/waiting-for-sorozat-2020-2021/), the sudden, traumatic situation led me to photograph tulips with my mobile as a daily therapy. Tulips—which are common symbols in folk art and ancient Hungarian decorative art, often symbolizing women or female genitalia—with their delicately pleated surfaces, compact formal elegance, and rich symbolism were particularly inspiring to me.
The third part of the Waiting for… series, currently on view, consists of photographs—this time taken in a studio setting—in which the beauty hidden in passing and the tangible presence of death in the gestures of wilting tulips are captured.
